There not cousins it’s just another series from the author and he probably was lazy with his artstyle

he does have same face syndrome! but I was actually talking about how Kaito and Shinichi look canonically the same in universe, it is mentioned multiple times, also there's literally another person who is able to be mistaken for Shinichi in universe. sometimes the Same Face is not intentional, but at least 3 guys have the same face on purpose.

I know they're basically identical, but they also both look like younger versions of their dads who we don't have confirmation of being related I'm pretty sure, and since they're both geniuses they would have figured it out at some point if they were, right?
